AMU BLOG 2022-23

Well, Let’s say the COVID-19 put a cramp in our live souls since 2020. However, in Japan they have opened up a bit and have allowed bigger crowds. However, you still have to not scream and wear a mask to enter any venue. Now, as of March 13, 2023 that will all change and the people have to choice to wear a mask or not. Will this start another cluster of COVID-19? Only time will tell but let me get into some things that I went to these past two years.

MERRY: Yes the boys had their 19 Anniversary in 2020 which also saw Shinichi leaving the band for good.
I did get to go to that last show for him and he played fantastic. The show was at Shibuya Naon Outdoor Stage
日比谷野外大音楽堂 . I got to talk to the guys after and they were sad but excited about how only 4 of them will sound instead of 5.

That was the only show I went to in 2020!
Now fast forward in 2021 in November was MERRY’s 20th Anniversary tour opening. They played their first show with only 4 members and I got to view it by LIVE STREAM as to the COVID was still strong. They play great and the new album
Strip is really good! Now in 2022 same time the 20th Anniversary final was to take place but Unfortunately, I had to work on a Saturday which was very rare but fell on the same day!! I was so pissed. So I just sent them some flowers.

So Next up was Lynch. This was their BUDOKAN show that got cancelled and they were able to finally have it on Nov 23rd, 2022. It was a Holiday so no worries about work!! They played a very long set which was also streamed live on WoWow Cable TV. It was a great mix of old and new and they did start out with the song that I fell in love with the band oh so many years ago ‘LAST NITE’.

Can`t go wrong with a 30 song set and lots and lots of talking and crying from the boys. Actually they did stop the band from 2021 to 2022 and all members are in other bands or doing solo stuff. So it was a welcome sight for many fans.

Next Up was for 2023: SEIKIMA IIhttps://www.seikima-ii.comThis is a band that is very underrated and put on a HELL of a Show. 聖飢魔Ⅱ期間再延長再集結 「35++執念の大黒ミサツアー FINAL」This show was also delayed for two years that is why they added the ++. They even joked about it during the show. They are closer to 40 year anniversary. They mentioned they also formed near Yoyogi where this show was played so it was kind of a home coming full circle. Demon Kogure Kakka mentioned they can’t promise anything about the future but they do want to continue. The place was packed so fan wise I think they don’t have any issues. So time will only tell. I did fell the Luke Takamaura looked a little slow moving so not sure if he was injured but they did mention health issues of the band in general. They are all close to 60 years old so it’s hard to keep rocking but if The Rolling Stones can do it they it is possible.
